Chargers Make a Great Showing at Cheer-off 2011

Picture
The WWG Football Cheer Team made a great showing at the regional Cheer-Off competition in Shakopee on Saturday, Sept. 24. While they didn't win a bid to state this year, they came back with useful judge's comments that they plan to use to build their program. Winter competition practice begins in November.

Talent AND Brains??? How lucky we are...

Congratulations to Rachel, Kelsey and Malia for their acceptance to the MCCA Honor Team of Excellence this year. The Honor Team is for senior cheerleaders who show superior skills in cheerleading and academics. Requirements to be on the team include leadership in school and community, as well as a minimum GPA of 3.6. The three WWG cheerleaders all led the pack academically, sporting GPAs of at least 3.9, and will receive certificates and medals for their accomplishments. Of the more than 30 cheerleaders from across the state on the Honor Team, only five also received scholarships of $1000 each. Congratulations to Kelsey for receiving one of those scholarships. Go Chargers!

Mission Statement:

Picture
It is the mission of the Charger Cheer Team to uphold the pride and traditions of Westbrook Walnut Grove High School. We will strive to consistently work hard, practice and perform with heart, dedicate ourselves to this program, and above all have fun. We recognize that this program is not built on one person, but our team as a whole. We recognize our role as community ambassadors, and will behave in a way that makes our community proud.

As coaches, we will strive to instill tradition, honor, commitment and pride in our team and in each other to reach our goals. We understand the importance of training and education, and hold our athletes' safety as our highest priority. We will work to be organized, consistent and supportive to make this an exemplary spirit program.

As members of the cheer team, we will strive to uphold the highest standards of our school and community as athletes, students and individuals.  We will remember we are the "little team that can," and will always be proud to wear the Red and Silver.  As a team, we will push and support each other to achieve more today than yesterday.  With the help of a motivational coaching staff, we will be a class act with pride in ourselves, our community and our school.  Go Chargers!
